Spectators at the Eden Gardens were in for an additional dose of entertainment after Kolkata Knight Riders’ match against Mumbai Indians on Saturday night as the Bollywood superstar sprinted with his little son AbRam on the hallowed turf. To the delight of the crowd, Shah Rukh twice ran short sprints with his three-year-old son.

Even after the match ended, about a third of the spectators sat glued to their seats, hoping to catch a glimpse of Shah Rukh up close.

SRK trooped into the ground towards the close of the presentation ceremony accompanied by AbRam and Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani.

The actor, sporting a white kurta, waved and threw flying kisses at the spectators and made a lap of the ground during his 15-minute gig.

Midway into the walk, SRK suddenly stopped, bent down, and asked his youngest son to run some distance.

A little later, he again asked him to run, and there followed a race between the father and the son.

Mumbai Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who attended the presentation ceremony, did not let the opportunity go, as he clicked a selfie with King Khan. The actor was also seen taking their photos on his mobile.

Despite KKR’s loss, Shah Rukh was in cheerful mood. “I wish we had won this match. This was the last game at the Eden,” he said.

“I don’t have anything to say to them (team members). I come here only for the love,” he added, when asked if he would like to give the players any advice.

KKR’s losing streak continued as they could only manage 164/8 in 20 overs, chasing 174-run target. The win helped Mumbai Indians top the table.
